Confidence Project

In order to reach people and have them understand that we all suffer from Imposter Syndrome or Dunning-ruger Effect at some point in our lives, I have been tasked with a project to display these in a format of my choosing. For my confidence project I created a series of images through photography to showcase the Imposter Syndrome and Dunning Kruger effect. I have displayed individual & triptych type images on its own page in the photography area. I started by taking photos of things places and people in a way to show a true image and the alter ego, so to speak. I have processed them through Photoshop. I have chosen to display them in a way that allows the viewer to decide what they perceive and not what they are told.

I began this process thinking certain things would work and then when I did more research and thought more and even tried I realized that some of what I thought was Imposter was actually Dunning-Kruger and vice versa. This process has helped in many ways, with the Imposter Syndrome and also the process of doing a project itself and with critical thinking. It also helps to know that even though you plan you sometimes just have to go with what you have, because cats do not cooperate. Also just because someone has a baton does not make them a majorette and just be cause you dropped your baton it or have an older one, does not make you less of a majorette.

Just some of my thought process while working on this project:

Researched on ways to make imposter syndrome in photos and read up more on imposter syndrome,and the following ideas came to mind

What if I find a rock that looks like a mountain and make it look as it is huge when in reality it is only 3
feet or less for imposter syndrome?
Found the rock and took some really good pictures, I think this will work. This would actually be dunning-Kruger
Ooohhh a fake moon to photograph and make it look like the real thing-imposter syndrome or dunning
kruger
Found the perfect fake moon hopefully when I photograph it, it will work. Take a look in the project
A lego set that is in the style of an older camera and make it look like a real one, maybe blur the photo a
bit? Will this Work? I’ll have to try. Imposter syndrome. Turned out to be a triptych with a very old Minolta, 2 Brownies and a current Nikon.
An eagle statue, blur the photo, use an angle that maybe make you think it is a real eagle, imposter
syndrome.
Got the photo of the eagle statue now to process it. After processing it, it just did not work.
Put together the lego set, taking pictures tomorrow. Will see how it turns out. Feedback from others and talking it out with a colleague, the triptych idea worked out.
Thought long and hard after researching for Dunning-Kruger, this one is hard for me and my mind is

I talked with the Professor, did not know what to call what I was thinking but now I know, forced
perspective! This is actually something I have been wanting to do and just haven’t had time or tried it
yet. Now researching and figuring out exactly how and what I want to do for this.

These are some of the
ideas that were in my head already.........
Stuffed cat looking in mirror sees reflection of real cat.
Stuffed cat not a problem to photograph, real cat is being a stinker.
Maybe have person A kneeling with cupped hands and have person B look as if they are stepping into
them. Will be working on this over Thanksgiving
Maybe have a person and a palm tree and make it look as if the person is plucking the top of the tree.

Possibly use some props such as a mario block, or a mario toad stool and make it look as if the person is
hopping over the toad stool or punching the mario block. Use vinyl animals and a person for example a
puss n boots and it be as large as the person. Or maybe something with a Yoshi or balls on springs. Will
be working on this over Thanksgiving,
